83rd Congress of the Spanish Ophthalmologic Society
The 83rd Congress of the Spanish Ophthalmologic Society was held under the chairmanship of Doctor Vicente Rodríguez and with Doctor Humberto Carreras as Secretary. The Congress brought together approximately 2,500 professional ophthalmologists last September.
An important aspect of this event was that it was attended by nationally and internationally renowned ophthalmologists that joined in an idea-sharing session about the latest clinical and surgical techniques in ophthalmology. Attendees included:
Dr Alan Scott. First ophthalmologist to use the botulinum toxin for therapeutic purposes.
Dr José Pulido. Director of the Retina Area at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester.
Dr Augusto Azuara. Head of the Glaucoma Department in Aberdeen.
Dr Miguel Materín. Expert in intraocular tumours from Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia.
Dr Thomas Neuhann. Expert in refractive surgery and cornea transplants with Intralase..
Dr Roberto Albertazzi. Expert in keratoconus. Buenos Aires.
Dr Francisco Sánchez. Expert in refractive surgery and intracorneal rings. Mexico.
The inauguration of the event included the presence of authorities such as the Counsellor of Health, the President of the Council and the Honourable Mayor of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
