Advantages

Safety

Even though results obtained using mechanical microkeratomes that use surgical blades are very good, with the new computer-controlled laser, it is possible to eliminate many possible complications that occasionally occurred, such as the interruption of the cut, irregularities in the cut (flaps that are too fine, too big or in the shape of a meniscus) or debridement, and to reduce the number of re-treatments.

Precision

According to studies published by INTRALASE CORPORATION, corneal resection with laser is 100 times more precise than corneal resection carried out with conventional surgical blade mechanical microkeratomes when making the corneal flap, since the dimensions achieved are more homogenous, especially with respect to thickness. Laser also makes it possible to create a fine, quality flap, which means preserving a greater quantity of the corneal tissue, while at the same time increasing the range of dioptres and patients that may be treated with this type of refractive surgery.

Visual Quality

Intralase®FS provides patients with the best technology on the market in order to achieve the best visual quality, minimizing the induction of astigmatism and aberrations caused by the treatment.
